The city where baseball legend Jackie Robinson grew up, a filming location of popular shows like The Big Bang Theory and Parks and Recreation, and perhaps best known as the home of the famed New Year’s Day Rose Parade and the Rose Bowl—Pasadena—nicknamed “Crown of the Valley,” is rich in history and tradition. Pasadena is also the birthplace of world-famous author and chef Julia Child, which is fitting considering the city is home to nearly 600 restaurants and eateries.

During the LA Inside & Out Pasadena tour, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the 132-year-old Los Angeles suburb, located near the foot of the San Gabriel Mountains, approximately 11 miles northeast of downtown LA.

You’ll travel to several historic locations to take a glimpse into the past, and learn about Pasadena’s social history—with a focus on the local African-American community. You’ll also learn about the work of local foundations, such as the Tournament of Roses Foundation, Pasadena Education Foundation, and Flintridge Foundation, and how they support the efforts of local changemakers. Additionally, you’ll hear firsthand accounts from longtime residents of the community and local nonprofit partners about residential patterns, demographic changes, and political movements in Pasadena.
