On Narrative and the equity gap
// By Jacqueline Brennan
Silvia is among the six finalists vying for the 2019 NGen Leadership Award, presented annually to a changemaker age 40 or younger who has demonstrated transformative impact and collaborative leadership in addressing a critical societal need.
She’s also executive director of Alianza Coachella Valley, an alliance of community members, nonprofits, and government leading efforts to transform the socio-economic conditions of Coachella Valley so that people in all communities have opportunities to prosper.
During her Spark Talk, Silvia will share her on-the-ground experience to demonstrate how dominant narratives can keep inequitable practices in place.
She’ll also help attendees understand why narrative change needs to happen among impacted communities and systems leaders alike, and the critical relationship between narrative change and policy change.
Silvia and her fellow NGen Leadership Award finalists will all be presenting or speaking during our three days in Chicago. They’ll also be at our Leadership Awards Reception—happening Thursday, November 14—where we’ll announce the winner of the 2019 award!
If you haven’t already, save your spot to join us this November and make plans to meet our six fabulous finalists and celebrate our winner when we announce them in Chicago!
On Narrative and the Equity Gap is happening Thursday, November 14 from 10:15 – 10:25am.
