Walking the Talk: Using Research to Drive Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
In 2018, a Starbucks employee called the police on two African-American men, who were waiting for a friend. The resulting uproar led the company to close 8,000 US stores for a mandated day of bias training. It may have been a smart PR strategy, but did it work? The lasting impact of bias training is mixed, according to research. While we can’t easily “de-bias” our brains, we can reduce how bias creeps into our organizations.
