  BOOST is a live, crowd-funded pitchfest in support of solving environmental challenges in Chicago and around the Midwest. Hosted by the Delta Emerging Leaders, the associate board of Delta Institute, BOOST brings together social entrepreneurs with unique and innovative projects to pitch their concepts to a live audience. Audience members vote with their ticket contributions to determine two winners who will each receive a $5,000 BOOST grant, which was awarded to KitcheNet in 2018. Amplifying Local Voices to Build a Healthier Public Sphere

Cortico, a nonprofit in cooperation with the MIT Media Lab, is gathering people whose voices are underrepresented in the public sphere into small group facilitated dialogues to share their perspectives on community needs and possibilities in the Local Voices Network. Recorded on Cortico’s own digital Hearth device, the conversations are transcribed, analyzed and uploaded to an online platform where they can be accessed by participants and local media. But while the media pushes a narrative that sextech is simply sex robots and VR porn, they’re only a tiny sliver of the actual spectrum that includes everything from menstrual trackers to inclusive sex ed.
