Activating Collective Purpose Through Your Story
Social change work is personal. Informed by our individual and collective histories, our movements are rooted in relationship–an invitation to dissolve the traditional boundaries between personal and professional, and bring our whole selves to our work. Join the 2019 American Express NGen Fellows for a workshop on stories. Participants will be invited to tap into their innate storytelling ability, sharing alongside fellow change makers as we re-connect with our personal inspiration and each other. Bring your (whole) self…and a pen. Sponsored by American Express Please note that our hope is to build a container conducive to sharing personal stories. We’ll need to close the doors to new participants once the session begins.

Advancing Racial Equity from Community to City Hall
Chief equity officers from around the country will hold a workshop to discuss their experiences driving municipal-level policy around racial equity. Participants will learn more about what strategies have worked to bring people together across racial divides, how equity officers have sustained efforts in the long-term, and how organizations in the charitable community can continue to support this national conversation on a local level. Presented by Independent Sector
An Intersectional Approach to Disability Inclusion
People with disabilities (PWD) make up 20% of the population, but our needs are often overlooked. This creates real harm and exclusion for PWD, many of whom are also members of other marginalized groups. Diversity and inclusion efforts must include PWD, and in turn, disability rights work must include the leadership of multiply marginalized PWD. We will discuss intersectionality and ableism, ableism’s inherent connection to white supremacy, and how this relationship must inform our approaches to changework. Presented by World Institute on Disability More about this workshop: Inclusion, People with Disabilities, and Full Representation
How Nonprofits Can Use Data to Change the World
Join us for an engaging discussion on how nonprofits are harnessing the power of analytics to further their mission. We will discuss how nonprofit organizations are using data and technology to drive innovation and maximize impact
