Bio
Amala found her way to Kashi Atlanta, and to the path of yoga, in Spring of 2011. She completed Kashi Atlanta’s Classical Yoga Teacher Training program with her beloved teacher Swami Jaya Devi in 2012 and served the ashram as an apprentice during the following year. In 2017 she graduated from Kashi School of Yoga’s 300-hour Kali Natha Yoga Teacher Training program. She is a resident of the ashram and currently teaches four weekly classes and frequent yoga workshops at Kashi Atlanta. As a registered Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP®) Amala offers workshops that are eligible for yoga teacher CEUs. Off the mat, Amala runs her own Graphic Design firm. She is also a part-time instructor for Graphic Design at Georgia State University and occasionally teaches Typography and Typeface Design classes at Miami Ad School @ Portfolio Center. Amala holds an MFA in Communication Design from the Braunschweig School of Arts in Germany and has over 20 years of experience in the graphic design and branding industry. As Director of Marketing, Amala is responsible for the brand voice of Kashi Atlanta. She oversees that ashram’s strategic marketing communications and is hands-on involved in design and execution of all marketing and advertising efforts. As a transgender woman Amala is active in the Atlanta LGBTQ community and leads Kashi Atlanta’s weekly Trans* & Queer Yoga class and support group meeting.
