Andrea Sáenz serves as The Chicago Community Trust’s first ever chief operating officer. Sáenz joined the Trust after six year as deputy commissioner and chief strategy officer for the Chicago Public Library system. Previously, she served as chief of staff at Chicago Public Schools, policy advisor for career and technical education at the US Department of Education, and executive director of HACE, a national organization working to increase Latinos’ success in professional careers. Andrea earned a Master of Public Administration from the University of Pennsylvania and undergraduate degree in Latin American Studies from Scripps College.
Andrea is from Quito, Ecuador and grew up in Los Angeles. She was recently recognized by Crain’s Chicago Business as one of Chicago’s Most Powerful Latinos. She was a 2010 Broad Resident and a Leadership Greater Chicago Fellow since 2009. She serves as a mentor at 1871, Chicago’s tech entrepreneurship hub, and serves on the boards of the Albert Pick Jr. Fund, Chicago Learning Exchange, Chicago Public Library Foundation, James Dyson Foundation, and as chairperson of Instituto del Progreso Latino.
