Bio

Diane Cohen is executive director and one of the founders of Finger Lakes ReUse, an independent, charitable non-profit enterprise founded in 2007 to help reduce waste and reinvest value back into the community. The triple bottom line mission of Finger Lakes ReUse is to enhance community, economy, and environment through reuse, and we envision a just, resilient, waste-free world that values people and resources.

Diane has 18 years of experience in non-profit management and materials reuse, including 7 years as the program manager for an architectural salvage and building materials reuse program. She has a deep interest in maximizing the environmental and economic benefits of reuse by providing opportunities for vulnerable community members. Diane graduated with an art major and politics minor from Ithaca College and serves on the board of the Human Services Coalition of Tompkins County.

Finger Lakes ReUse has received several honors, including the NYS Environmental Excellence Award, Sustainable Tompkins’ People’s Choice Award, the Environmental Champion Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Jeff Furman Award for Social Responsibility in Business, and the Nonprofit of the Year Award by the Chamber of Commerce.
