Bio
Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, Fredric C Underwood, also known as “Fred Fu,” is an independent artist and leader in his community. While attending Edinboro University, Fred had a passion to bring people together and became a founder of Edinboro’s Black Student Union Association, as well as their administrator for events and programming. He began cultivating his vision by hosting poetry shows that catered to all ages. He gained much of his inspiration from Pittsburgh’s infamous Shadow Lounge with Justin Strong; however he has always wanted a showcase theater of his own. His experiences and visions eventually led him to create his artist development and promotional company named Fred Fu and The Family. Since 2016, Fred Fu and The Family has produced a number of many sold out showcases, including the art series ‘Canvas of Words’ where he advocated for hundreds of artists to promote their talents.
As an active member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, as well as an avid seeker of deeper knowledge, he strives to support the youth in our community and is influenced by the capabilities of one’s imagination. Fred is a firm believer that ‘you are what you create’ and works to promote exactly this. Fu is a Father, teacher, poet, motivational speaker, and may be the answer to unasked questions you never thought about.
