Bio
Laurie Scafidi is Solve Education’s Ambassador and a Spanish Bilingual teacher in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. She has been teaching in the States for over 15 years, working with mainly low-income Latino students. Prior to that, she taught at a Dual Language school in Cuenca, Ecuador. Laurie earned her undergraduate degree at Augustana College in Rock Island, IL where she studied Elementary Education and Spanish Language. She holds two master’s degrees–one in Curriculum and Instruction from National-Lewis University and one in Educational Leadership from American College of Education. Laurie is passionate about reaching all learners and ensuring they feel welcome and have a place to belong in the school and community. Beyond the regular school day, she coaches cross-country and track and field, is an avid runner and loves to travel and explore the world, seeing new places and meeting new people.
Laurie is representing Solve Education!, a finalist in the 2019 Innovate for Good Challenge, as an organization applying new I.T. in the artificial intelligence category.
