Bio
Professor Colinvaux is a nationally recognized scholar who writes about the way the law shapes the policy and character of the nonprofit sector. Main topics of his writing include the charitable deduction, the advocacy activities of nonprofits, donor advised funds, and conservation easements. His work has been cited by think tanks, policy-makers, courts, and media outlets, including the New York Times, the Washington Post, The Economist, Forbes, and the Chronicle of Philanthropy. He has testified about nonprofit tax reform before the Senate Finance Committee and the House Ways and Means Committee, and has served as an advisor to the Urban Institute, the National Center on Philanthropy and the Law, and the Independent Sector (where he currently is a member of the Public Policy Committee). He has also chaired committees for the D.C. Bar and the American Association of Law Schools. Professor Colinvaux received his J.D. from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law and an M.Litt in Politics from Oxford University.
