Wren Elhai is a graduate student at Stanford University, pursuing a master’s degree in international policy with a concentration in cyber policy. He works in Stanford’s Digital Civil Society Lab on a project to map intersections in the work of civil society organizations and digital policy experts. He is also researching the use of digital platforms in interventions to prevent violence in conflict-affected societies. Wren is a career Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Department of State and has completed overseas tours in Russia, Pakistan, and most recently Kazakhstan. Prior to joining the Foreign Service, Wren worked as a policy analyst at the Center for Global Development, where he wrote about U.S. assistance to Pakistan, and spent a year as a Thomas J. Watson Fellow studying vocal music traditions around the world. He plays a variety of stringed instruments ranging from the violin to the Kazakh kobyz.
