Bio
Previously, Ken served as the Executive Director of the CROP Organization, an Oakland-based reentry service provider. In 2021, he led an effort to secure a historic $28.5M investment from the State of California to develop the first residential and tech-centered workforce development program for formerly incarcerated people in the country. After 24 years in the labyrinth of California’s criminal justice system, more than 8 of which in solitary confinement, Ken emerged to become a certified paralegal and policy director for a public interest law firm. His passion for social justice and the power of transformation have led him to become a sought-after leader on issues such as criminal justice reform, tech equity, DEI, the Governor’s future of work initiative, and personal leadership development. Ken serves on the Board of the San Mateo Community Colleges Foundation, Turning Basin Labs, CROP, and on the Advisory Board of the Law and Social Justice Pathway Program for Oakland High School.
