Walter has worked at Community Wealth Partners for 11 years and leads projects with nonprofit, foundation, and coalition clients, advises and coaches social sector leaders, and works together with teams to conduct research, analyze data, understand stories and experiences, and develop solutions, strategies, and recommendations for partners. Walter has extensive experience facilitating diverse groups to come to inclusive solutions together. Walter has led community-centered strategic planning engagements with foundations and nonprofits and other organizational strengthening efforts. Most recently, Walter has worked with partners like Child Care Aware of America and MENTOR to design and facilitate Participatory Action Research-informed processes that engage the people most impacted in determining what they and their communities want. Prior partners also include KaBOOM!, Helios Education Foundation, Gates Foundation, Burns Institute, and StriveTogether.
Before joining Community Wealth Partners, Walter worked with Enterprise Community Partners, a national affordable housing nonprofit, where he managed a $7 million federal National Stabilization Program grant to assist communities hurt by the national housing crisis. He also lived and worked in Palestine doing microfinance work with the United Nations Relief Agency. Walter has a B.A. from Harvard University in Government and International Relations. He is a father of a 4-year-old and 1-year-old and has a passion for mentoring as a local basketball coach in Columbia Heights, his home neighborhood in Washington, D.C.
