Bio
Xavier Vazquez has a BS in biology, focusing on pre-medicine and studied mechanical engineering at the University of Puerto Rico. He decided to pursue Medicine school at the University of Minnesota and moved to Minnesota in 2017, after he obtained his biology degree at the Universidad del Turbado of Puerto Rico. His career changed when he was hired by a nonprofit, and he found his passion for working with the community. He is passionate about breaking the intergenerational cycle of disadvantages to create an organizational culture where every employee has a voice, feels genuinely welcomed, appreciated, and free to be themselves, and is empowered and enabled to do their best work. He is part of the MENTOR MN Board and the MN Council of Nonprofits Board and is completing his MBA at Western Governors University. He is also a consultant with MENTOR MN and runs Familia Free Planning Services, a nonprofit that supports community members with tax preparation and immigration processes.
